Itinerary
We start with a pickup or a meeting point in Cusco.
Cathedral Basilica
The first stop is the Cathedral Basilica, on the Plaza de Armas. Here you feel colonial Cusco: altarpieces, paintings of the Cusco School, and Catholic faith built over the old Inca heart of the city. It is a short visit, full of history and art.
Qoricancha
We continue to Qoricancha, the ancient Temple of the Sun. The Convent of Santo Domingo was built on its Inca walls. That contrast between polished Inca stone and colonial architecture is one of the strongest moments of the tour. Here you understand why Cusco was the religious center of the Tahuantinsuyo.
Sacsayhuamán
We then head to the outskirts. At Sacsayhuamán we walk the great fortress of cyclopean walls, with enormous blocks fitted together without mortar and a wide view of the city. It is the longest stop and the most photogenic.
Qenqo
We continue at Qenqo, a rock sanctuary with passageways and a chamber linked to rituals and funerary practices.
Puca Pucara and Tambomachay
Later we visit Puca Pucara, an old control post with a reddish tone, and Tambomachay, famous for its channels and water fountains linked to the Inca water cult. We return to Cusco to close the half day. The afternoon and evening are free to enjoy the historic center.
